‘As a gay man’: Coming Out- Quinto-Style
Actor Zachary Quinto just came out as gay—not via a proclamation on a magazine cover, not in a curated press statement, but by using one little phrase in an interview: “As a gay man…”
Yesterday, New York magazine ran a profile of the Heroes actor that included questions about Angels in America and his producer role in Margin Call, plus a casual confession of Quinto’s sexuality, a qualifier as natural as where he was born or what color hair he has. Among the spate of celebrities who have come out in the last 20 years, this is an unusual course to take. Ellen DeGeneres famously came out on her own sitcom, in an episode that attracted more than 42 million viewers. Country singer Chely Wright staked out the cover of People to make her announcement, and followed that up with a tell-all memoir. After years of speculation, singer Ricky Martin wrote on his website that he was a “fortunate homosexual man.” Read more…

Have you ever date
d anyone who was just too into you? They are enthused and clearly overly zealous about you. Overly complimentary and pushy way before the timing might be mutual? If you’ve had this experience or perhaps have even been the “chaser” then here’s a thought you may want to hold onto for the future.
The “chaser/chasee” phenomena is a simple one. As long as someone energetically chases someone, then the other person is energetically the “chasee.” And because the “chasee” spends so much time avoiding being chased, he can’t spend anytime being the “chaser” in return. And in relationships, it’s give and take, right? So without the back and forth the “chasee” is literally pushed out and probably disgusted by what appears to be neediness and desperation. We all like attention but we all have our limits for how much we can take at any given time.

Disney Princess Grapes?
In my continuing effort to pick on Disney Princesses, (see this post) we now have this. To me, fresh foods in the grocery store are about the last things we think of as “coming straight from the farmer.” Now we have to think of them as making a stop off in the happiest place in the world? What’s next? Republican Party chicken breasts? South Park brand brown rice?
Hmmm…. a big birthday is coming up…

So you want to be a farmer?
I never got the first strawberry from the little strawberry patch we had in our backyard when I was a kid. The birds got ‘em all. All that digging in dirt in the hot sun, dirty hands, knees, sweaty and not the first damn strawberry! But I will say, if my little garden had grown like this, it might have been more fun.
